The position we offer
We are looking for postdoctoral research fellows who enjoy quantitative research and health economic modelling. The successful candidates will have a role in research as well as in teaching. They will be responsible for designing and programming new models (both for commercial and non-commercial clients) and for critically assessing HTA models (mostly for NICE) designed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of various types of health care interventions. This can range from new drugs to diagnostics, medical devices, and different forms of therapy. The work may require travel.
They will also work on methodological improvements in modelling, for example in the context of projects in the European Horizon 2020 programmes (e,g, COMED) or projects financed by ZonMw, and advise fellow researchers with respect to statistical aspects of their research.
Furthermore, the post-docs will be involved in the education of bachelor and master students with respect to advanced research methods and health economic modelling. This may include conducting workgroup sessions on quantitative research methods or model building, and supervising bachelor’s and master’s theses.

Your salary will depend on prior experience and degrees obtained and will be calculated on the basis of full-time salary ranging between € 4.294,- and € 5.513,- gross per month (salary scale 12, CAO NU). However, it is possible that you will be placed in a preliminary scale (salary scale 11) in the case you have little experience.

Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management
Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM) is part of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) and linked with Erasmus MC. ESHPM is responsible for several education programmes on policy, management and economics in health care, which serve around 1000 students yearly. In addition, it is also very active in research, which can be divided into three major themes: ‘Competition and Regulation in Health Care’, ‘Quality and Efficiency in Health Care’ and ‘Health Care Management’. ESHPM has about 175 employees.
Two research positions are offered within the section Health Technology Assessment (HTA), a section that is distinguished by independent and excellent research in HTA, health economics and health outcomes research.
Health Technology Assessment - our projects
The main goal of HTA is estimating the long-term cost-effectiveness of innovations in health care. This requires that evidence about effectiveness and costs from various different sources is synthesized into probabilistic decision-analytic models. Our section HTA has a large and experienced team of modellers who develop and implement such models. This work is often funded by policy makers or manufacturers to inform reimbursement decisions. Examples are the technology appraisals that are conducted by the section HTA for the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) in the United Kingdom and the National Health Care Institute (ZIN) in the Netherlands.
