Job description

The department of political science and public administration is looking for a lecturer who will teach courses on Bachelor and Master level, primarily in the area of international security, and who can supervise theses in the fields of International Relations, International Security, Public Administration/Security and International Political Economy. The lecturer will contribute to our programs ‘Law and Politics of International Security’, which the Faculty of Social Sciences runs together with the law faculty, ‘Political Science’ (Bachelor and  Master) and ‘Public Administration’ (security track).

Your duties
• Teaching at Bachelor and Master level
• Supervision of theses in political science and public administration
• Contribute to the administration and promotional activities for the programs

Requirements

PhD in Political Science, International Relations, International Law or Public Administration, specializing in international security.
• be an inspiring lecturer
• have strong communication skills
• be able to successfully collaborate in a team of staff members
• be fluent in English and preferably also in Dutch

Conditions of employment

A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of € 3.303,- and a maximum € 4.852,- in accordance with salary scale 10 or 11, depending on your education and experience. The job profile (Lecturer) is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for at least 0,5 FTE.

The employment contract will be for a fixed period of four years.

Department of Political Science and Public Administration
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration is committed to high quality academic education and research. Our educational programmes include political science (bachelor and master),  public administration & organization science (bachelor), public administration (master), law and politics of international security (master, with the Law Faculty) and a new international programme  Philosophy, Politics and Economics (bachelor, with the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration). Our research focuses on public governance issues and is organized in two programmes (Multi-level governance; New modes of public governance). Additionally, the Department participates actively in the newly established research institute at the Faculty of Social Sciences: The Institute for Societal Resilience.
