Department of Biomedical Engineering
University of Technology Eindhoven, The Netherlands
The Cardiovascular Biomechanics group performs research in the field of computational and experimental biomechanical analysis of the cardiovascular system. General aim is to develop computational models, experimental techniques, and medical devices, all of them to be applied in clinical diagnosis, decision support, and intervention. Inherent to the groups approach is the experimental verification using data obtained from in-vitro and ex-vivo setups, and data from patient studies, obtained in collaboration with different academic and clinical partners. The research in the group is carried out along three mutually linked approaches; patient-specific computational modelling; ultrasonic and photoacoustic image acquisition and analysis; experimental verification, characterization, and testing.
Your tasks in Research
We are considering candidates with expertise in the development of advanced computational methods based on a thorough knowledge of the underlying mathematics, fluid dynamics and solid-state mechanics. In addition, the candidate must have a strong drive to apply computational methods to clinical problems related to cardiovascular disease and be able to collaborate with our clinical partners. Knowledge in the field of sensitivity analysis and uncertainty quantification as well as affinity with experimental techniques and medical imaging is a plus.
Your tasks in Education
You will be expected to contribute to high quality education in fluid and solid mechanics and computational methods at both the undergraduate and graduate levels of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Excellent communication skills and previous teaching experience are required. You will supervise BSc students, MSc students and PhD candidates.
