We seek a highly talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher for a European Research Council (ERC) funded Consolidator project entitled Dare to Approach. The overarching aim of the project is to develop a computational framework explaining how people make costly avoidance decisions under acute threat, and how they are able to override strong avoidance tendencies to achieve a higher-order goal. Ultimately we want to contribute to a better understanding of the neurocognitive basis of passive and active avoidance in healthy and anxious individuals, and to provide starting points for personalised interventions to alleviate persistent avoidance in anxiety patients.
You should have a PhD degree in a field related to cognitive neuroscience (e.g. artificial intelligence, experimental psychology, cognitive science, biology, neuroscience). Candidates with a strong background in affective or decision neuroscience and experience with computational modeling are particularly encouraged to apply. Selection will be based on records of published research, expertise in affective neuroscience methods and theories as well as computational modeling and familiarity with neuroimaging techniques. You are expected to work in an interdisciplinary environment, sharing technical know-how and ideas.
Start date around September 2019, but flexible.
