Teylers Museum

Teylers Museum

Teylers might well be called the Museum of Wonder. Ever since it was first founded in 1784, this has been the place to surprise yourself and to wonder at ancient fossils, magnificent stones, ingenious devices, precious books, fascinating coins and medallions, marvellous drawings and romantic paintings. The museum houses a unique combination of world-class collections of art and science in a monumental building with parts from the 18th, 19th and 20th century. The building also includes Professor Lorentz's laboratory and the home of "founding father" Pieter Teyler, which is currently being restored and will be opened to the public. In the coming years, the museum will make its history as a research institute for art and science more visible.
