NLO, a leading IP-firm based in the Netherlands and Belgium, is growing and looking for candidates who are interested in becoming a patent attorney.

What you will be doing
As a patent attorney, you play an important role in bringing innovation to the market. Thanks to the combination of your technical expertise and your legal skills, you deal with varied patent issues at national and international clients. You are in the privileged position to sit down with inventors, heads of research, in-house attorneys and commercial leaders to advise them on the protection of their inventions and knowledge and actively help them managing and developing their patent portfolio.
Within your team, you will get the opportunity to access support from highly experienced attorneys and from day one you will be actively involved in the day to day business.

Your training
You don’t just become an attorney; training is required. The professional Dutch and European patent attorney training course starts in 2022. The course generally involves one day a week, for three years, and focus on developing legal knowledge and communicative and practical skills. NLO pays for the entire training course and exams. In addition you are part of the NLO Academy. Together with all NLO trainees you will follow a varied program throughout the year. You develop your knowledge, communicative and practical skills. You will have the opportunity to meet your new colleagues, exchange stories and share your experiences.

Requirements

Your professional qualities

  • Besides an university degree and a completed PhD in the field of e.g. Biotechnology, Medical/Molecular Biology, (Molecular) Life Sciences or Chemistry, you recognize yourself in the following competencies:
  • Investigative & creative
  • Analytic & accurate
  • Stress tolerant, client-focused
  • Excellent English oral and writing skills. A good command of Dutch is an advantage.
