The Amsterdam University Medical Center (location AMC, Amsterdam) has a vacancy for a PhD student or postdoc at the Tytgat Institute for Liver and intestinal Research. The aim of the project is to investigate whether inhibition of the bile acid transporter NTCP can be used to treat NAFLD/NASH. Furthermore, the project aims to understand bile acid signalling related to liver inflammation and fat accumulation in great detail. We use state-of-the-art molecular/cellular ex-vivo techniques combined with genetic models and diet-induced models for metabolic diseases and/or bile acid transport.
We are looking for a highly talented PhD student with a Master’s degree in a field related to (medical) biology or biochemistry and/or a postdoc with a PhD in metabolism/signalling obtained no longer than 2 years ago and a high motivation to excel in research.
