Amsterdam UMC is looking for a (clinical) geneticist with a doctorate who will lead the Human Genetics Department in all its aspects; who is a team player and provides leadership together with the Executive Board and the management team of the department; who is a link between the components of the department at both locations of Amsterdam UMC; who gives direction to the clinical diagnostics and the developments within the profession; who contributes in a stimulating way and helps give direction to education and training; who ensures national and international recognition of the department as a genetic expertise center; who has strong skills in scientific research and helps further develop existing lines of research and can take new directions in scientific research.
For this position, we are looking for an inspired (clinical) geneticist with broad subject matter knowledge. You are a connecting leader with proven leadership and management qualities. You have an affinity with patient care, education and training, as well as (pre)clinical and translational research.
Fixed-term contract: One-year contract with the prospect of a permanent contract.
Salary scale H,H/A: 12,145 to 15,117 euros gross for full-time employment (depending on education and experience).

The Academic Medical Center (AMC) and the VU University Medical Center (VUmc) today joined forces in an administrative merger. The chairmen of both Boards of Directors signed the merger into force this afternoon. The signing ceremony took place in downtown Amsterdam, in a fitting location overflowing with Dutch medical history: the 17th century Anatomy Theater in a traditional weighing house called De Waag.
The Department of Human Genetics of Amsterdam UMC is currently housed at location AMC and at location VUmc, with outpatient and laboratory diagnostic functions at both locations; and various research groups at both locations. In the future, laboratory diagnostics will be concentrated in one laboratory at the VUmc site, outpatient activities will be concentrated at the AMC site, and research will continue to be conducted at both sites, consistent with the site profiles.
The Department of Human Genetics is a leader in each of the subfields of Clinical Genetics; has an excellent research program related to the various subfields of Clinical Genetics and cooperates intensively with many parts of Amsterdam UMC that overlap with Clinical Genetics, such as Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Metabolic Diseases, Cardiology, Oncology and Neurology.
