Job description

Maastro has five research divisions: Clinical Data Science, Physics Research, Clinical Research, Lab, and Innovation Research. The division of Innovation Research, led by Prof. dr. Maria Jacobs, conducts research into how the implementation of innovations in healthcare, and more specifically radiotherapy, can be improved and accelerated.

In this position you will work in the Innovation Research division and conduct research to the best project management method for the successful implementation of innovation projects in a radiotherapy setting. There are many different methods for project management, such as PRINCE-2 and AGILE/SCRUM. With your research you will answer the following research questions using literature studies but also research in practice:

  • Which factors determine the choice and success of a particular project management method?
  • Is there a relationship between the type of innovation (e.g. treatment innovations, technological or organizational innovation) and the method of project management?
  • What preconditions must be met to successfully lead a project?
  • Is there a relationship between the method of project management method and different types of innovations?
  • How can we objectively quantify factors that determine the choice of a project management method or link them to the successful implementation of a project?

With your research, you will generate knowledge to help healthcare institutions implement innovations more successfully and quickly. You will publish your research results in peer reviewed scientific journals. A supervisory team is available to guide you and your research.

Requirements

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive candidate with either a completed relevant Master's degree and experience in conducting scientific research, or a PhD in the field of Health Sciences, Business Administration or similar.

You:

  • are able to make connections at an abstract level. You know how to extract the big picture from complex information and make new connections;
  • are able to present ideas and information clearly;
  • are aware of important developments in your field and can apply them;
  • know how to realize objectives according to plan;
  • can work independently but also actively seek cooperation;
  • are strong in speaking and writing in English and preferably in Dutch.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: initial period of 1 year.
