Amsterdam UMC

The department of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine is, amongst others, specialized in conducting research using nuclear imaging techniques, more specifically Positron Emission Tomography (PET). Our aim is to use PET for diagnosis of disease, treatment monitoring and patient selection. Tracer Center Amsterdam develops the new PET tracers needed in the clinic for neurological diseases as well as oncology, rheumatology and cardiology. The research of TCA focusses on radiochemistry methodology development, selection of biological targets and development of new PET tracers for these targets, preclinical in vivo evaluation of new PET tracers as well as good manufacturing practice (GMP) compliant synthesis of PET tracers. TCA is now located in the Amsterdam UMC Imaging Center that is equipped with a brand new lab for TCA according to current state of the art. At the Imaging Center all imaging modalities are brought together and the synergy between basic research, pre-clinic and clinic will be further enhanced.

TCA collaborates with many national and international research institutes and pharmaceutical companies and is partner in many (inter)nationally funded projects, amongst others, NWO, ZON-MW, IHI, EU and EU Marie Curie program.

The Department of Molecular Cell Biology and Immunology (MCBI) at the Amsterdam UMC (VUmc location) carries out research at an internationally competitive level and offers a stimulating and collegial work environment. The research of the department concentrates on immunological questions in the fields of cancer, neuroimmunology, skin biology, and inflammation. The research focuses on both fundamental questions aimed at unraveling molecular and cellular mechanisms as well as translational research aiming to apply fundamental knowledge to medical questions. MCBI is part of the Amsterdam Immunotherapy Center.
