Job description

We are looking for an experienced technician that will work in a team to:

  1. determine biomarker proteins in the blood of lung cancer patients to predict response to combination treatments (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immune checkpoint inhibitors);
  2. to culture patient biopsies (explants, organoids) to compare the response to proton and photon treatment and determine which treatment combinations are most effective;
  3. to participate in translational research platform where a medical device (KIBUR) containing multiple drug combinations after patient implantation is analysed suing spatial profiling technology. Novel biomarkers will be validated in existing retrospective cohorts and prospective clinical trials.

There will be a close collaboration with the clinical departments of the MUMC+.

Requirements

To fit this position, you have:

  • A Hbo or Academic degree in biomedical sciences, pharmacology, or similar;
  • Demonstrated experience in experimental laboratory research;
  • Experience or interest in oncology, especially in lung cancer and immune therapy;
  • Good language skills in English;
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team;
  • Good verbal communication skills.

Conditions of employment

Conditions of employment and salary are based on the Dutch Collective Labor Agreement for Hospitals (CAO-Ziekenhuizen). You will receive a full-time contract (36 hours/week) for an initial period of one year, which in case of a successful evaluation, will be extended to a total period of 4 years.

Your salary will be according to the salary scale FWG 45 (min. € 2.554,-, max. € 3.468,-) or FWG 50 (min. € 2.759,-, max. € 3.922,-) depending on education and relevant work experience. Within the collective labor agreement, there is an extensive package of fringe benefits, including a good pension arrangement, an 8.33% holiday allowance and end-of-year bonus, and an excellent pension provision.
